Murmuration
Fernando Casasempere: Murmuration.
Porcelain
2021
Composed of more than 2000 individual pieces of hand-moulded porcelain, this installation by Fernando Casasempere evokes the unique phenomenon known as “murmuration”: the choreographic cloud-like patterns formed by sweeping flocks of migratory birds. Floating weightlessly above the stairwell, the assembled elements create an organic form within the building’s angular architecture. The work gestures to the quotidian flux of individuals in Henrietta House, and captures London’s collective, kinetic rhythm: a continuo pulse, a perennial crossing of paths.
